SolarLife24: The Software Behind a Smart PPE Manufacturer

SolarLife24 LLC designs and manufactures instrumented smart PPE hardware. AppWT is its technology and infrastructure partner. We build and run the software platform behind the gear, and we built the company's website and its Android app on Google Play.

Manufacturing Smart PPE Hardware IoT Sensor Data Metro Detroit

The Client

SolarLife24 LLC is based in Livonia, Michigan, in Metro Detroit. The company designs and manufactures instrumented smart PPE: protective work gear with sensors built in. Its public website also covers mobile billboards and media products, an online shop, and a charitable fundraising program in which every purchase funds tree planting and toy donations to children.

What They Needed

Smart gear is only half of the product. A sensor in a piece of work gear is useful when something reads it, stores what it reports, and turns that into a record a safety manager can use. SolarLife24 makes the hardware. It needed a partner to build and run the software side, and to handle its public website and its store app.

What AppWT Built

  • The sensor-data platform. The server-side platform and the data pipeline that reads every sensor in the gear. AppWT programs it, maintains it and runs it.
  • Presence and condition tracking. The platform tracks presence and the condition of the gear, and keeps safety time records.
  • The AI and reporting layers. The layers that turn raw sensor data into records and reports people can read.
  • A partner portal. A login-protected portal for SolarLife24's leadership. Each topic reads in plain English by default, with a technical version one click away. A share center issues private links and counts views by device type.
  • Program films in 11 languages. Narrated overview films in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, Arabic, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Polish and Haitian Creole, so a crew can watch in its own language.
  • The public website. SolarLife24's website at solarlife24.com, built on GoDaddy Website Builder. Its footer reads "Built by AppWT LLC."
  • The Android app. The SolarLife24 app, published on Google Play by AppWT Web & AI Solutions in the Shopping category. The listing describes it as clothing sales for charitable fundraising.

How It Works

The gear produces sensor readings in the field. AppWT's platform collects those readings on servers AppWT runs, tracks presence and gear condition, and builds the safety time records and reports from that data. SolarLife24 makes the hardware. AppWT programs, maintains and runs the platform and the sensor-data pipeline.

This page describes what the system does, not how its parts work, because parts of it are Patent Pending.

What This Means for a Manufacturer

If your product produces data, the website is only the front door. This engagement covers the whole stack in one place: a public website, a store app, and a server-side data platform that AppWT also operates day to day.
